Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, I start from a place of curiosity. Each person is unique, shaped by diverse experiences which contribute to the multitude of stories we carry with us and which impact the way we move through the world. Together, we will explore, and in some cases work to rewrite, the often unconscious narratives that direct our lives, in order to move toward ease, growth, fulfillment, and well-being.

The therapeutic relationship is something that we enter into collaboratively, with a focus on not only your pain and struggles, but also on your strengths.

Relationship Therapy

Relationships can be one of the most complex and challenging aspects of our lives, and yet many imagine therapy is useful only in times of crisis or serious break downs. My approach to relationship therapy is to first view “relationship” in a more expansive and inclusive way. This means queer and trans folks, non-monogamous and polyamorous practices, mixed identity relationships, and even friendship! I then listen to each person deeply - what is being said and unsaid - while also observing and attuning to relational patterns and dynamics that may be interfering with your connection, intimacy and affection, growth, and more. I’m not anti-conflict, as I think this is an inevitable part of being in relationships, but I will help you make yours more productive and learn the art of repair. I also have a special interest in supporting relationships undergoing a transition, whether that be new parenthood, a gender transition, a loss, or another major shift. I am also trained in Level 1 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and apply aspects of this approach, including a comprehensive assessment, as appropriate.

Family Therapy

In family therapy, we focus on the family as a whole - sometimes referred to as a system. The family is a unit in which all members impact and influence each other. Working collaboratively with a shared goal, we explore harmful patterns and "stuck places" to create new possibilities in relating to one another.

Families come in all forms - those we are born into, and often those that we’ve chosen. All are welcome and offered care, concern, and appreciation.

Gender Affirming Surgery Evaluation

To reduce gatekeeping and lower financial barriers to gender-affirming care, I offer evaluation of readiness for surgery on a donation or pay-as-you can basis (including a no fee option) for residents of California and Colorado. For those who are able to donate for this service, this offsets the costs of these sessions for those for whom the fee presents an unfeasible barrier to gender-affirming care. With a few exceptions, these letters can typically be written after a single evaluation session.

My practice is also a member of the Gender Affirming Letter Access Project (GALAP), providing no-cost letter-writing services. You can find out more about GALAP by using the link below.

I utilize an informed consent model where clients affirm their gender identity and are centered in the decision-making about their own bodies. If you are in need of a letter, please email me about my availability.
